PHILKAG QUOTE: courtesy of philboxingforum
thanx for askin' guys! i expect a lot of it. valva_hotog,jasons wrath
i'm a bisaya myself and during my childhood,
this word keeps bothering me. my parents and all of people out there in visayas usually call those naughty or "pasaway" kids
as "kagwang" -kagwang ka! or "pasaway ka! and that makes me curious. when i ask my grandpa, he told me that this thing
called "kagwang" is a rare specie of animal found in mountains of visayas and mindanao.
today, my reseach though find
it as Flying Lemur - One of the most distinct creatures on Earth lives in the Philippines. It doesn't have wings but it can
glide across 100 meters of space in a single leap. Like the lemurs of Asia, it moves around at night. Its head resembles that
of a dog while its body has similarities with the flying squirrel of Canada.
In Mindanao, people call it "kagwang".
Around the world, it is known as colugo or the flying lemur.
i think people in the visayas have long blemished the
name of this distinct creatures. calling those "naughty" folks as "kagwang" when they themselves doesn't even know its Real
face.
instead of talking this as a funny thing, we should be thankful of it, we should love it all of us filipinos
that Nature give us this unique creature which rarely found in asia!
like how boholanos love their tarsier and that
because they nourished their natures gift, foreign had love it too eager to see it personally coming from farther distant
from their homeland and reach bohol just to experience their precious moment with the "bohol tarsier" one of the worlds magnificent
specie.
It is about time that "kagwang" or philippine gladier receive its final distinction. in fact it is a rare
specie, and might banish oneday.
We at PHILKAG wants to start our own way of paying tribute for this creature. And
as a "bisaya" I'm proud to have this unique creature in our natures biodiversity. Thus calling our club in honor of it's Name....
Because like our athletes, i truly treasure them not only as an ordinary members or fighter. I acknowledge each one
of them, their own capability not only as a fighter but as a human being as well. In fact, they are the one who became my
source of inspiration. My strength and weakness for when I look into their eyes, I see a lot of Hope.
Like we call
on "kagwang" they are all naughty kids and guys, but since their humans, I knew that their capable of renewing themselves
from their untoward attitude. They can became future World champions and responsible citizen that someday like our "National
Icon" we will love and cherish....
so as you guys, you make me feel inspired! "thnx"
